Mark Versavel

mark-versavelCentral nervous system (CNS) disorders, including neurologic and psychiatric diseases, are amongst the leading causes of disability. Neuroscience is making rapid progress and new drugs are being discovered that promise help for patients, doctors and society.

With over 25 years of international experience in CNS drug development, Mark Versavel, M.D., PhD, MBA, created vZenium to support the development of CNS drugs that make SenZe for physicians and patients.

Dr Versavel has been a leader of CNS drug development projects in all development phases from First in Human, Clinical Pharmacology, Proof of Concept, to Phase III and IV across a wide range of indications in neurology and psychiatry.

With a track record of achievements through multi-disciplinary leadership and a cooperative leadership style, he is driven by a strong product vision to develop new drugs that make SenZe. This aligns and motivates teams to perform well through difficult periods. He is a creative problem solver searching for solutions and innovative ways to move a project forward.

Dr. Versavel achieved his M.D. from the University of Antwerp in Belgium; PhD, magna cum laude, from Humboldt-University in Berlin for the validation of a computerized cognition test system; and MBA from the University of Michigan. He was trained in neurology and clinical pharmacology and has authored numerous peer reviewed articles and scientific posters.  See Dr. Versavel’s work >

The company name was derived from the Dutch word “zenuw” which means “nerve” it also contains “zen” which Dr. Versavel associates with “the beauty of simple solutions”.
